The Latxa flock that Neiker has on the Campus of Arkaute participates as an innovative dairy flock in the LIFE GREEN SHEEP project. We have designed a Low Carbon Action Plan with which we aim to mitigate our environmental impact and improve sustainability. Specifically, we have set the goal of reducing our carbon footprint over 12%, as well as improving other environmental aspects such as soil health and fertility, grass production, etc.
But above all, we want to share our experience, and for this reason we are organising this activity aimed at sheep farmers, advisors and stakeholders of the sheep sector, mainly from the Latxa sheep production system, although it is also open to those from other sheep systems.
During the visit we will present our flock, the facilities and main equipment we use to measure enteric methane emissions, and we will explain the innovative management practices implemented to achieve our goal.
