Italian farm presented

The farm we are going to tell you about is located in central Sardinia and is a typical semi-intensive dairy sheep farm, with integrated grazing in the barn. The total area, mostly flat, is about 150 hectares, 90 of which are arable land, from which grain and hay are obtained to feed the sheep. There are also 5 hectares of woodland. There are currently 500 animals on the farm, including 300 adult ewes (which produce over 320 litres of milk per head per year), 200 primiparous and ewe lambs, and 16 rams. The farm is equipped with three photovoltaic panels, of 40, 20 and 6 kWh, respectively, part of which is used for sale and part for self-supply. An interesting aspect devised by our farmers is the presence of two alternative and smart solutions for managing the barn, which we will discuss during the meeting.
