The Agricultural Technology Institute of Castile and León (ITACyL) has participated once again in Ovinnova, the Professional Sheep Fair, which was held at IFEZA, Zamora, from October 22 to 24, 2025. Ovinnova is the meeting point par excellence for the sheep and goat sector in Spain. During these days, ITACyL presented their innovation, applied research, and technology transfer projects, aimed at improving the efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of livestock farms.

In this space for sharing knowledge and connecting with professionals from the sheep and goat sector, Raúl Bodas gave a talk entitled “Research into the sustainability of sheep production systems,” in which he discussed the different pillars on which sustainability is based (environmental, social, economic, research, and continuous improvement) and highlighted the role of the Life Green Sheep project, whose objectives in Castile and León are to understand the real impact associated with milk production, promote low-carbon sheep farming systems, and management practices that improve the sustainability of flocks.
