We are proud to announce that the 1 st European webinar of the Life GreenSheep project, held on the 3 rd of October 2022, was a great success. 91 attendants from all over Europe participated actively and gave very positive feedback on the meeting, which was a unique opportunity to present the preliminary results and the future steps of the project.

Briefly, Sébastien Bouvatier (Ministry of Agriculture, France) gave an overview of Carbon Farming strategies and policies at an EU level. Sindy Throude (Institut de l’Elevage, France), the project coordinator, presented the structure of the LIFE GreenSheep project and the criteria used to select the 1,355 demonstrative and 282 innovative farms among the 5 partner countries.

Alberto Atzori (University of Sassari, Italy) showed the results obtained by comparing the different tools to assess farm environmental and sustainability performances.

Catalin Dragomir (IBNA, Romania), explained how the 143 “carbon” advisors in charge of on-farm data collection were trained, while Caroline Guinot (Ressources Agro, France) presented the strategy adopted to disseminate the results obtained within the project.

To conclude Jean-Baptiste Dollé (Institut de l’Elevage, France) emphasised the importance of evidence-based results, obtained with certified methodologies, to promote low-carbon initiatives and achieve the EU climate target.
